Longest Labor of All Time?
So I'm sure there are women out there...many women...who've gone through this. But I am so very annoyed right now. Starting Sunday evening I started getting some really regular contractions. Still a good 10 minutes or more apart, which doesn't really mean much as far as dilation goes, but exciting nonetheless. I even had a huge increase in 'show' which is pretty disgusting to go into detail about, but you can Google it if you really care. This 'show' is also a sign that labor is moving along, especially when it coincides with contractions, which it does. SWEET I think. I make sure the hospital bag has all of the last minute things because I'm sure that I'll wake up in the middle of the night with serious labor contractions and I'll be a mom by lunchtime on Memorial Day. 5:30AM Monday... I wake up with the sun and am thoroughly disappointed that I'm still comfortable and the day is breaking. I had only woken up 3 or 4 times from contractions that night. So I get up, eat some breakfast and start feeling sorry for myself. I'm hopeful that once I'm up and moving things will get moving again. Mom and Dad came up later and we went grocery shopping. Then Josh and I ran some errands. My mom spent the day cooking up a storm of freezer worthy dinners for when this kid finally decides to show up. Contractions still continue, but didn't feel bad at all...until about 2pm. I tried to take a short nap on the couch and was woken up every 10 minutes exactly with some pretty strong contractions. This was the first time they actually hurt. Completely manageable, but still pretty uncomfortable. SWEET! I think again. There's more of that 'show' crap too after each contraction (which if you have any imagination, it's definitely as gross and annoying as you'd think it is). For about 4 hours or so I have 10 minute apart contractions like clockwork. This could be it! Josh had just downloaded the Contraction Master app for his iPhone, so he was eager to try it out. Of course as soon as we sit down on the couch to try and relax and watch a movie, they start getting really irregular. Still strong, but 12 minutes apart, then 30, then maybe back to 10 for a few. This is freakin' ridiculous. Seriously. How many of you just woke up and and 'oh my mucus plug fell out and then i was in labor 2 hours later!'. I hate you. I know it's totally normal for things to move slowly like this. I know this kid will probably be here by Wednesday or so, but I'd rather just have nothing going on, instead of this! I feel like I'm so close, and then they just turn off. JUST KIDDING my body says. So it's probably time to stop asking me if I've had a baby yet. Trust me, I'll let you know.
